The Coffinmakers Garden by Stuart McBride

 5*

This was a great novel, I really loved all the Scottish expressions, it was refreshing.

The characters were well written, the killers disturbing and Henderson is a great anti-hero.

The Scottish setting was intriguing and the plot fast paced, I’d like to read more of Henderson’s exploits in the future.

Tall Bones by Anna Bailey

 4*

A little slow to start with but once it got going, wow!

An atmospheric thriller set in a small almost backward town of godfearing hypocrites that take the law into themselves when a girl goes missing.

The characters were well written and each one had a good back story behind them like poor Abi and her brothers.

The plot, once it got going, settled into a good pace with a few twists that left me guessing, even leaving an optimistic opening at the end.

A Good solid story for a cold winters eve.

What I Did by Kate Bradley

 4*

When I first started this book, I almost give in, it was a slow burn and in some places, confusing.

Then all of a sudden it clicked and I couldn’t put it down.

The pace picked up, the characters became ten times more interesting and the plot thickened with so many twists and turns that I honestly didn’t know what the truth was until the very end.

An emotional story, set in various places that suited the novel perfectly, especially in the more isolated place.

I will definitely give this Author another go

Silent Night by Nell Pattison

 5*

Brilliant book, made all the more cool as it was set in my own neck of the woods!
It was a refreshing change seeing Paige communicating through sign language and then learning about her past really fleshed out the character making her a great heroine.
In fact most of the characters were well written and the plot itself had just enough twists and suspicions to keep me guessing.
The Humberside/Lincolnshire setting was rural and fit the story well and I thoroughly enjoyed reading until the end!

Isolation by Sarah K. Stephens

 4*

An interesting concept mirroring today’s climate, Isolation is a story about an aggressive virus tearing through the world.
Or is it?
The setting is claustrophobic, despite the house and land being so big and the plot, full of unexpected twists keeps you guessing the further into the story you read.
Brenna’s family, trapped in a lockdown at the mercy of the virus or their mother?
The question brings out the characters, and each different in their own way, some not completely likeable but realistic.
A solid story worth a read

The Dark Room by Sam Blake

 5*

Absolutely brilliant book, one of the best I’ve read for a long time.
The Irish setting was perfect and Hares landing was so atmospheric.
The characters were well written and came to life, I cared about what happened to them, Jasper was gorgeous!
It was fast paced, never dull and the plot itself was eerie and full of good twists.
I will definitely read more from this Author

Trust No One by Keri Beevis

 5*

Really enjoyed this book.

The characters are well written and interesting with a bit of mystique thrown in for good measure so you’re never sure who to trust.

The plot, is full of vengeance and suspense with lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing for most of the book and the setting of normality, adds to the most horrible situation Olivia finds herself in.

Definitely worth a read!

The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss

5*

An amusing uplifting tale about a young woman reluctantly on the hunt for love.
A cosy setting and A well written, humorous plot had me hooked from the beginning.
The characters were likeable and reacted mostly true to life.
A very easy to read and happy novel that I would recommend.

Baba Lenka by S. E. England

5*

Baba Lenka is a supernatural novel that switches back and forth between the two females Baba Lenka and Eva Hart, who have a terrible legacy to fulfil.
Poor Eva is witness to Baba Lenkas funeral and unwittingly takes seething home with her, what follows is literally Hell on Earth for the 8 year old girl.
Demons, ghosts and devils galore as the young girl first fights then slowly accepts her fate but wait, does she?
Another great, well written horror story from Sarah England, she never disappoints
