Mine by Kelly Florentia

 4*

Good solid story with a fast pace and an edge of your seat atmosphere.
Lucy is a strong character with a few flaws but tries her best to do the right thing, when she meets Teddy, seemingly Mr Perfect, things appear to be in the up for her.

What follows is a tense storyline with plenty of suspicious twists, so you honestly don’t know ‘who did it’.

A satisfying if unexpected end finished this book perfectly.

The Wife who got a Life by Tracy Bloom

 5*

Wow what an absolute gem of a story!

Absolutely beautiful, funny and well written.

The characters are so true to life you can believe they are real,

Cathy was the embodiment of every woman of a certain age and she dealt impending age and it’s downsides like a superstar.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a refreshing change and so easy to read.

This Author is definitely on my read more of list!

Dog Days by Ericka Waller

 5*

After recently losing my own dog, I thought to find some comfort in this novel.

It really was a good book and dealt with lots of real and quite tragic issues whilst still being lighthearted and humorous in places.

The love of our pets being the one thing that helps us get through.

There was even a couple of twists, a bit of sadness and a bit of happiness too.

The characters were well written and I sympathised with most of them and the everyday trials they were dealing with.

A lovely, nicely written book!

Murder Run by John Hunt

 3*

I just couldn’t get into this book, normally I like this type of novel but I found Murder Run too needlessly violent with no real story nor justice to the antagonist.

I disliked all of the characters, they were all really 2 dimensional and I just couldn’t care about them I’ve way or the other.

The story was slow, with no real explanation on why Kyle was the way he was.

However I enjoyed the back story of the Graysons and it wasn’t badly written or anything, just not really my cup of tea.

The Convent by Sarah Sheridan

 4*

Sister Veronica isn’t your ordinary heroine, she’s an elderly nun with a very shrewd, inquisitive mind, willing to stand up for what she believes in!

I enjoyed the pace of this book, which set the scene in a claustrophobic Convent which slowly widened to include the outside world, a hostel and even Paris.

The plot, At times was quaint, custard cream anyone? At others it was politically brutal, bringing to the fore just what power the Catholic Church still has.

The characters were well written and I was sympathetic to their cause though I would’ve liked a bit more background on Melissa, Father Hammett and a couple of other interesting people.

All in all though, a good read!
